What is Limbic Reflexology?
Reflexology is based on the idea that there are areas on the feet and hands that correspond to all the organs and tissue of the body. Reflexologists work on these reflex areas with their thumbs and fingers during a treatment using specific techniques.
Professional reflexologists undergo a Diploma training that usually lasts one year and are assessed as competent in their knowledge and practical skill. Following this initial training they undertake continued professional development training (CPD). Limbic Reflexology is one such CPD course.
Limbic Reflexology was developed in 2012 by Hamish Edgar and focuses on the reflex areas relating to the brain and more specifically what is known as the limbic brain whose areas and processes are concerned with regulation of body systems and processes, and is closely involved in emotional responses and processes such as sleep and our experience of pain.
The reflex areas of the brain are found in the big toe and it is here that a Limbic Reflexology Therapist will focus their attention.
