About Limbic Reflexology Research CIC

Limbic Reflexology Research is dedicated to advancing knowledge and accessibility of Limbic Reflexology as a therapeutic intervention for health conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and related conditions.
Through rigorous research, we aim to explore and document the benefits of Limbic Reflexology, publishing our findings as open access papers in journals to ensure that this valuable information is available to all.

Our commitment extends beyond research to produce support, offering free or subsidised Limbic Reflexology or wellbeing sessions to individuals living with these conditions with any surplus funds that are generated. By making this therapy more accessible, we seek to improve quality of life and contribute to its recognition as an effective complementary approach to healthcare.

Our Research Team

Marcia Edwards

Co Director of LRR CIC / Independent Researcher

After a successful 30-year career in IT, Marcia followed her passion for health and wellbeing, retraining as a Reflexologist in 2013 and specialising in Functional Reflex Therapy and Limbic Reflexology. By 2017, she had fully transitioned to running her own complementary therapy business, delivering impactful mental health and wellbeing services.
Marcia empowers individuals, families, and organisations through workshops and accredited First Aid for Mental Health courses, while her work with fibromyalgia inspired her to earn a Master of Research degree in 2021. Her research continues to drive her commitment to exploring the transformative potential of Limbic Reflexology. As co-founder of Limbic Reflexology Research CIC, Marcia combines her expertise and dedication to advance reflexology’s role in improving lives.

Hamish Edgar

Co Director of LRR CIC

Hamish works as a Reflexologist in South Yorkshire, UK. Having worked for 45 years in the field of mental health, he began to develop a reflexology approach to mental health problems. Limbic Reflexology is the product of that work.
He has been teaching Limbic Reflexology in the UK since 2013, and in response to worldwide interest in Limbic Reflexology training, the online Limbic Reflexology Course was launched in 2019
Limbic Reflexology is ideally suited to people living with Fibromyalgia (FM) as much of the development of Limbic Reflexology involved working with people with FM.

Dr Jackie James

TiDiER Reflexology Guidance Specialist

With a background in physics and a 20-year career in IT and project management, I transitioned to reflexology in 1999, founding Calming Influences, a holistic therapy training school, in 2005.
I recently completed a professional doctorate at Portsmouth University, where I developed guidelines to improve reflexology study documentation. This work ensures studies are repeatable, enabling their inclusion in systematic reviews and advancing the acceptance of reflexology in conventional medicine.
I am thrilled to collaborate with Marcia and the study team, contributing to research that strengthens the evidence base for reflexology and its impact on health and wellbeing.

Jennifer Brown

With experience as a marketing manager and research analyst, as well as roles in marketing for non-profits, I bring a strong emphasis on ‘real-world’ teaching to my academic work. My research interests include fashion marketing, social media, and inclusivity. Currently pursuing a PhD, my research focuses on creating marketing strategies to make the fashion industry more inclusive, particularly for Generation-X women using ZMET (Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique)
I am excited to bring the ZMET technique to a different research area.

Samah Naseem

I have worked in both the mental health and gender-based violence field. I have a master’s in psychological research methods. I have conducted mixed methods research and have also co-authored articles in the field of clinical psychology.
I have also been on the panel discussing mental health in BME communities.
I am currently doing a Masters in Counselling at Abertay University.

Limbic Reflex Therapists

The research relies on Reflexologists, located throughout the UK, who are trained in Limbic Reflexology and who will deliver the treatments and the research data. All the Therapists have undergone identical training by the same trainer thus lending a consistency in the delivery of their treatments.
